...MAD science, that is?

Had a lot of fun yesterday; it was a really nice day, so a lot of neighborhood kids were out trick-or-treating.

And, oh yeah? We went trick-or-treating too! Eight random people, three of 'em in fursuits (and everyone else in costumes), going door-to-door begging for candy. We actually got a few laughs - almost nobody seemed to think it too weird that twenty-year-olds were out and about in costume. I got a bagful of candy, which is awaiting me at home right now >_>

We also tried out Xerxes' new game "7 Sins"; we wrote the sins on index cards and picked random things, because he doesn't have any actual cards for it yet.

We played it for about four hours, but it was fun. And I won! Was the first to win once for each sin (though I won twice for Avarice); playtesting things can be cool, if it's a group of people with twisted minds and a good sense of humor apiece.

Um...hearing about the car accident was very not good, though. I didn't know the people in it, but...

...anyway, on the whole it was a good Halloween. And I hung out with Marc! Haven't seen him in too long. And he had the only anime-themed costume in the bunch, so we had a nice variety overall. ^_^

Finally, it looks like I may actually be doing something on a Halloween; the LI Furs group is planning on going on a fursuit group trick-or-treat, and it looks like I'll probably be able to come along.

I don't own a fursuit (they really, really aren't to my taste), but I do want to go in costume, however half-assed. Right now I've got four ideas, and I have to a) pick one and b) make it in less than ten days...so if anybody's got any experience with costumes and can offer useful advice, I would really appreciate it.

a) If I can find a fairly cheap source for a labcoat, I may just go as a mad scientist-type. Some red wash-out dye for "blood", a beaker or a ray-gun (perhaps a Super Soaker?), and it should be pretty easy. The labcoat is the only item that I wouldn't be able to get fairly easily. Where the heck do people buy labcoats, anyway?

b) This one's kinda silly; at work, we have lots of empty cardboard boxes that are just going to get thrown out (from the printer paper - we go through that stuff like you would not believe!)

So, I was thinking of asking if I could take the boxes home. Then I could either make a "cardboard robot" or cut up the boxes and string them together to see if I could make something vaguely resembling samurai armor out of them, and go as a cardboard samurai - the plus to that is that I would be able to carry my bokken with me, so if we actually had trouble with someone trying to get violent, I might be able to help back them off. This one is really just a costume that I thought up while bored at work, though.

c) I could always resurrect an old costume and go as Casey Jones from TMNT; a "rock star" black wig, hockey mask and an old cruddy jacket and gloves, and a hockey stick, and that's it. Pretty easy costume to do, though the recognition factor is kind of low.

d) This is the one I'm leaning towards most right now. I think it'll go off pretty well, if I can get:

A fake mustache
A red shirt
Blue overalls
White gloves, and
A blank red hat.

That's right, I want to make a Mario costume. I figure that if those things are easy to get (I can stencil the "M" on the cap), I can even try to get a pair of ears and a floofy tail and go as Tanuki/Raccoon suit Mario...

Which reminds me, for some reason - got a midterm tomorrow in my Theory of Computation class. Think I'll go study now.
